“Virtue is a behavior showing a high moral standard and is a pattern of thought and behavior based on high moral standards. Virtues can be placed into a broader context of values. Each individual has a core of underlying values that contribute to his or her system of beliefs, ideas and/or opinions. Integrity in the application of a value ensures its continuity and this continuity separates a value from beliefs, opinion and ideas.”
I chose 12 virtues that I see as myself in some of them I do need some improvement from my part:
· Integrity regards in actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes.
· Kindness is being concerned for others.
· Self-discipline is to keep you disciplined, in order.
· Responsibility is to be true to your beliefs.
· Determination is when you have a goal and do what you can to achieve it.
· Acceptance is not attempt in protest to a situation that happened.
· Patience is being tolerant.
· Honesty is being positive not lying and cheating.
· Curiosity is a behavior that develops to know the unknown, learn and explore.
· Confidence is to believe been right about something.
· Citizenship is being a citizen of a community or country, most important is to act as a good citizen and cherish for it best.
· Cooperativeness is to be able to help and let be helped for someone, working together.
I think I have some great virtues but I do know I have to work better in some of them. A good example is Patience. I am not a very patience person although I know things just come in the right time to you, I tend to be a little bit “desperate” when I want the things on my way.
I can mix this thought with Acceptance. That is another virtue I have to work on. It does not matter if I did not get what I want it; it was just not the moment. Then is when I use my confidence to deal with my problems, because overall I am a determined person and if I did not get today I will work harder to get tomorrow.
Being vigilant of myself will help me to change these virtues from a bad way to a good usage of it. It will help me to grow as person. As Lavoisier have said one day “In nature nothing is created, nothing is lost, everything changes."
