Federalist No. 10.

In federalist number 10, Madison argued ways to go against factions. Madison explains that economic stratification prevents people from having the same thoughts. He also states that the damage caused by factions can be limited only by controlling its effects. I think if Madison was alive today, he would still agree against factions. I think today’s government society is a lot more complex than it used to be.  After reading this article I would like to extend Madison’s take on the faction and its powers. However, I would go against his belief that factions are to powerful. I think the factions that are around today are okay and get the jobs done.  I do think with factions, the powers are unlimited. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. With today’s government the majority vote wins. In today’s government the two most powerful factions are the republicans and the democrats. One of the things one always hears is if there will be more democrats or republicans on the seat during the year. Most of the time, whichever has the most seats, usually owns the court. Usually with the United States, people lean one way or another when voting with these factions. Even with today, if one does not want to side with either the democrats or the republicans, there are also the independent factions. If one thinks because of big factions, one cannot express their opinions, there are still other options to do so. I can agree that Madison was right about when he explains that common people’s opinions are always influenced by their emotions and their self-interest. They don’t always think clearly and that they don’t approach situations in the same way. If each person had power to change something or make a law constitutional, the person would normally do something that would benefit them in the long run. The system lets the leaders do the pickings that know the system and information thoroughly that they are voting on. In the end Political parties are made up of people. The problem is too many people are caught up in their daily lives to pay much attention to what the professional politicians are doing in their names. Democracy requires work, paying attention especially when it is a democratic republic. I think without having these factions, there would be no definite answer to anything. I do not think that I would change anything at this point in time. There are flaws in the system but nothing is perfect. The party system is in place but cannot help if someone with bad intentions is in a position or ranking that can make choices. After reading federalist number ten, I debated back and forth about if having big factions were right or wrong. I still say that I agree with having these factions and that important decisions are made through theses factions. I would say that the factions do not have unlimited power because having a certain number of officials vote for something before the issue is passed. Even the United States of America President does not have unlimited power.
