Response to Federalist No. 10

Lewis’ blog
He affirms that Madison’s beliefs about factions had different interests and even if they often disagree in the end they will get to a solution. He also states that factions are important for democracy even if the majority concentrate its interest on the minority population.

I agree with him. Even being old rules it still works in our society. People will always argue and fight, but there is nothing better than democracy and the right to express an opinion. Nobody is the same, each one has a different thought, people just have to work out these differences and get to a rational conclusion.

Nina’s blog
She believes that Madison did a great job writing this paper. She cites how worried Madison was with matters related to land ownership, how he did not want big states to hold the power against smaller states. She also said that Madison was focusing his attention on the American people, watching the power used by each faction. To finish her post she agrees with the theory and says that this same system that was presented long ago is still necessary in today's society and politics ends falling in these factions network depending on their ideology and values.

I completely agree that a politic ends up in a faction depending on their values. Each one has to be responsible for its own actions. People only want more and more power for them and forget to care for society as a whole. This is reflected in the division of society into majority and minority, where the minority takes over power and money, while most struggles to have a decent life.

Keith’s blog
He started doing an evaluation of some polls that have been made, both in California and in Switzerland. With this he says the law is being used, most of it barring a minority in a lawful way. He believes that factions exist, as in the example given to what happened in Oklahoma, when the Judiciary took the lead and denied the execution of the plan. He also believes that the majority uses the power to impose oppression.

I agree with him when he says that there was a time that things did not work in that way. But I believe that in the example given about OK the minority went against the majority of 70% and barred the law from being enforced. Even though that was changed and did not go how the population expected, they are the only one that can go out and claim their rights.

She states that she does not agree with the Federalist No. 10 from Madison. For her, parties factions do not have this much power in society, they make sure the job gets done, but she agrees that taking the power away may be the answer for having some results. She believes that the President and his crew work together on the behalf of the country. It is sad to see that the people that one trusted the vote, the power, use this in their own behalf. As Madison said, people are influenced by emotion and own interests.

Sometimes these interests are not the best, and in most cases they are not the population interests, but each politic interest. I agree when she says that today is much worse than in the past, and that probably Madison would have the same ideas. But I do think that some factions are too powerful and they use these powers to get whatever they want. Their weapon is the manipulation of the nation.

Jeff’s blog
He says that factions arguments are just to show off, to "prove" that they are doing something, but they are  not really worried about the population, they want to been seen as "those who care". He states that American is called a nation of takers, instead being known as a nation of makers. He believes that people should be taxed on the same amount and a lot of people in the country does not work because have support from the welfare program.

I do believe that republicans and democratic are always picking on each other as a show off game. One want to be better than the other, they do not unite whatsoever, how do they expected that the United States of America honor this name and work as one, in view of the social welfare?
I also believe that some people rely on the social programs and expect the government to take care of them, but this for me is no education and at some point laziness, which ruins the whole point of the programs.
